Do I really need to give you a reason to see Magic Mike?

Welcome to Monday!  I have been thinking all day for a title for this post, and it centred around the reasons why you should go and see the movie Magic Mike.

Well, a few weeks ago, if you asked me what Magic Mike was I would have told you I did not know.  I was invited by a friend to go and see it a couple of weeks ago and accepted thinking it would be nice to go out with some friends to the movies on a Friday night.  So, after I accepted the invite I checked out the clips on the internet, and was intrigued to see what a ll the commotion was about.

I had no idea who Channing Tatum was before this movie, but I know a little more about him now.  This movie Magic Mike is loosely based on his year stripping yes, that rights stripping before he made it in Hollywood.

Well, we sat down to our movie, and I was not surprised to see that there were only 3 men in the cinema.   There were women of all ages in the almost packed cinema.  The movie started and then it started.  I mean when you get to see what Magic Mike does, I mean he is some mean dancer. I have never seen anyone move the way he moved on that stage where he worked Xquisite.  All the men’s moves were pretty impressive.  I remember a long time ago, seeing a stripper perform, and I thought this man is more interested in dancing than stripping but I ate my words in this movie, as I was more interested in their amazing moves.. OMG- OK – they had nice physiques as well!

The movie had a pretty good storyline.  It gives you some insight into the world of strippers, and of Mike’s desires to doing what he dreams of – making unique furniture.  It makes you think are you really doing what you want to be doing.  You know the things that you think make you happy, are not really making you happy anymore.  Well, that is what I think the movie was trying to convey!  It was as though Mike was no longer Magic Mike.  He was looking for something else!

The movie had me laughing as well.  I can remember the scene back stage where the men are preparing for their performance. You know the typical strippers scene, men pumping some iron, having a few shots of alcohol, and you know pumping their private parts – totally hilarious – of course that is what strippers do right?  Its as if director Steven Soderbergh, is making a mockery of it all.

Now, I thought I would be much more interested in seeing Matthew McConaughey in this movie, but boy was I suprised!  Channing and the other younger characters, yes Matt Bomer, seemed to get much more air time, and they were much more appealing.

Matthew’s character Dallas, was like the retired stripper, with too much fake tan on.  Trying a little too hard, for my liking.  And you know there is always that token really old old stripper, that is unappealing and there was one of these in this movie as well.

I was looking for some clips from the movie, when I stumbled upon this on Your Tube.  Watch it!  This was totally totally hilarious.

“CAUTION: Not recommended for anyone under 16.  At Magic Mike opening night. 6/29/12 – Fashion Valley AMC Theater, San Diego CA. The theater was at full capacity with women. INSANE. We had a BLAST! “

These were the comments, and you would understand when you watch the clip.  Thanks to socalgal619 on You Tube.

I will leave the ending for you to see.   One minute, you were watching the last scene, waiting for the next, but then it was over… A little short I thought!

Reel Movie Nation also has a great easy to read review on this movie, which you should read!  thanks Reel Movie Nation!

So, if you want to have a fun night out with your GF’s, have a laugh, and enjoy some man candy,  (How can you say no to that!) I suggest you go out an see this movie!  No Reason necessary…

So, have you gone to see this movie??  Did you take your BG/husband/partner??  What did you think?

Til next time…

If I weren’t paying off my CC, I would buy this…

Hello there… Today,  I was on my weekly haunt of finding something I would love to purchase if I did not have my credit card debt.

I got thinking, was checking a few of those lovely email enticers, and I remembered watching Jerseylicious on Foxtel last night. What you say?  Its my thing!(as Miranda would say in SATC)  I remember seeing Cathy Giove in the new Anthony Roberts salon donning her Tory Burch Tote!  With that inspiration, I let my fingers do the typing, and typed my way to Tory Burch

And here she is – The Metallic Michelle Tote

TB – Metallic Michelle Tote – $395.00

TB – Metallic Michelle Tote

This is a very versatile bag for everyone.  I was reading the latest edition of Instyle Magazine Australia, and Rachel Gilbert suggested that the tote was the perfect carry all, especially for us busy Mums!!  So, more reason for you to get one.

Going into summer, this is the perfect bag, for work, out shopping, meeting friends, and even the gym or the local park, ballet, anywhere – perfect bag!!

Silver is like the new black, you can wear with any outfit! I had a silver baby bag, and I used it until it died.. It was great, and always received comments..

I also love the price @ $395.00.  I could only find it at Tory Burch.  Tory Burch now does ship to Australia, which is so awesome – yayyy!.  Prior to this, the best way to get TB was via ShopBop, which is my all time best on-line store.

How many of you know of the Tory Burch Brand???

The brand was established in the US in 2004, and quickly became very popular and even more popular after Oprah said she was the next big thing in fashion, and Oprah is never wrong.

The TB site, describes the brand as “.. a luxury lifestyle brand defined by classic American sportswear with an eclectic sensibility and attainable price point. It embodies the personal style and spirit of its CEO and designer, Tory Burch. Recognizing a void in the market for a sophisticated aesthetic at an attainable price point, Tory wanted to create stylish yet wearable clothing and
accessories for women of all ages.”  You can read more about TB brand

So, who knows about this brand?  Have you purchased anything from Tory Burch??

I have 2 pairs of shoes that were purchased when we were in NYC in 2010.  Her stores are amaze and I love the style aesthetic.

Anyway, have a fab weekend!  Enjoy the Olympics opening ceremony!!

What are you talking about? What’s a Chubby Stick?

Well, I am talking about Cosmetic Giant – Clinique’s amazing product – Its’ Chubby stick!  Interesting name for this product, but boy is it great!

Over the past couple of months I have seen advertisements everywhere for this product. At the bus stop, on buses and mentioned in countless magazines.  I have read loads of reviews on them, and thought I had to try one.

So, off to my local David Jones Clinique Counter, and the lovely cosmetics expert showed me the sticks!

She went on to tell me that Clinique’s Chubby Stick is the highest selling lip product worldwide!  Some feat, I assure you.  Hundred thousands are sold every day.  She went onto tell me that it is a cross between a lipstick, lip balm and gloss.  She showed me all the lovely colours (below)

Clinique Chubby Stick- Colour Range

Clinique describes these pencil like products as
“Super-nourishing balm is loaded with mango and shea butters. Just what dry, delicate lips need to feel comfortably soft and smooth. ”

My next question was the price.. OK, it was $35 and a was a little poor for the rest of the week after my purchase!   After much liberation, I am a Libran after all,  I chose the 02 – Whole lotta honey below

I love the pencil like product that is great and very easy to use!  Even my 4 year old daughter was able to use the product with ease, so much so, that I have to hide it she does not use it!  I love it size, and screws up and down like a normal lip balm.

Now, this is just a lip balm, so do not expect and strong pigment in colour.  The Clinique website clearly states that it is a sheer coverage and that is just what it is.  Just see my lovely photo below is see the difference between nothing, and wearing the balm.  What do you think?

I do like the product when I remember which bag it is in, and does feel a little more sexy than my usual go to which is Blistex.  As with all Clinique’s product it is fragrance free, which I think I really really like the most.  It feels great on, and very moisturizing.  It lasts just as long as a regular balm too.   I think it is perfect.

I find that when I go to work, that I usually wear a lipstick, which after lunch is gone, so putting this on gives me some colour but not too obvious!

So, I would suggest that you get yourself out there and get yourself one.

Has anyone got one of these Chubby’s??  What colour did you get??  What do you think of it?

Til next time… Be Good!

Why is it so hard??? It is not me in the picture!

What is so hard, I am Not my Clothes? you ask!

So, not me.. I am not happy with myself or my credit card! (image c/-

Well,  its my credit card that is causing my grief this week.  The premise of this blog is to illustrate how I pay off my credit card fashionably of course, and to date, I have paid off a miserable $227.22. That’s right.. $227.00, sorry, I forgot the 22 cents.  I can hear you all out there.. and I feel the same way.. I am a little disappointed 😦

I have not been that responsible over the past 6  months checking my credit card statements, and I suppose I was a little to scared to see where I was at, and I am not sure what made me do it recently.. hmm, maybe this blog, as that is part of the reason that I am writing this.

I am happy that I have paid $1980.00 off my card over the past 6 months, but sadly, I have also spent nearly $1600…  It is so hard to write this post, and face this, but I will continue!

So, what have I spent it on, you ask?  I am very happy to say, that I have not purchased any clothes at ALL!!  Nice Lucia!  But the biggest culprit has been, and you would not believe it GROCERIES!!!  YES!!!  Groceries!  How boring… I have used my credit card after I had attempted to use my EFT card, and there has been no money in the account.  So, rather than be embarrassed and leave, or  transfer some money, I have just used my CC to make the payment, because it was so easy.  So, over the past 6 months this has amassed to about $700, and I have shared it with Coles, Myer, The butcher, Woolies and Kmart and the local petrol station.

The other culprit of this incident, is the good old Apple iTunes!  I have an iPhone and an iPad.  It is so easy to purchase apps, magazines (fashion ones of course), books and games for my daughter, that I did not realize that I spent $330.00 in the past 6 months.  In the back of my head, when I was making the purchases I knew what I was doing, but a $1 here, and a couple of bucks there, slowly added up to $330.00.. hmm.

Finally, interest has been the other factor in chewing up my money, totally $335.00.  This is something I knew I had to pay.. so, no biggy there.

I know you are adding the numbers up in your head to make sure that they equal and currently they don’t add up. So, with that I do make a regular donation to RSPCA that amounted to $100 over the 6 months, and then I had a couple of work expenses where I used my credit card as they did not take the corporate card that my company uses.  That equated to approx $250.  So, it all adds up!

So, with facing my credit card disappointment, and the lesson in being afraid to face my credit card and being financially responsible.  I have now made a few changes to hopefully help me reduce my credit card debt.

I have killed the credit card details on my iTunes account and when I have saved a little bit of money, I will purchase some of their voucher, which is a much better option.  I have cancelled my monthly donation to RSPCA.  I need it a little more than they do at the moment.  I have also changed my bank account to one of those debit credit card accounts, which will mean if I need to purchase something I can use my bank account rather than a credit card.  I also need to be more responsible that and check my bank account balance on a regular basis, so I do not get caught out doing the groceries again.

At the moment, I am feeling really deflated, cause I thought it would be easy to pay off my credit card and its really hard.  You have to be very focused and really want to reduce it.  I can say that I have been half interested, and as you can see  my half interested results!

At this point in the year, unless I win $10,000.00 to clear my debt or I create  some miracle, I think it might take a little longer than I expected to pay this off.  I have read articles similar to mine, and it has taken people a couple of years. I hope it does not take me this long, but hey, if that is how it happens, that is how it happens.

You know, I am not sure what you are experiencing in your world financially, but I am feeling a little like those European countries, you know, doing your best just to get through their financial situation, with the BIG hope that I will get through this.  It feels like all those years of prosperity, that I was part of is long gone, but the memories are still with me, because I am carrying this debt.

So, my questions today, how responsible are you with your finances??  Do you regularly look at your credit card/ bank account statements to understand where your money is going??  How do you manage your credit card debt.  Can you give me any tips??

Looks like I will have to start looking at some styling at more reasonable prices if I am going to reduce this debt… ie in 2013, maybe I can be the next Gok…

Til next time… Be awesome!!

Coach – The Most Searched Luxury Handbag Brands Globally?? Can it be true??

Well,  the answer is yes, according Luxury Society & Digital Luxury Group.  Both firms are well versed in this area of luxury, just check out their respective websites.   So I am more likely to believe them.

“Digital Luxury Group and Luxury Society are the.. wonderful groups ..who launched the World Luxury Index™ Handbags. Unveiling for the first time, a ranking and analysis of the most searched-for handbag brands within the luxury industry, based on the unbiased search inputs coming from global luxury consumers in major search engines.

Their research examined over 130 brands, through 130 million+ searches,  in eight countries.  In a bid to better understand the search behaviours of consumers seeking both premium brands – such as Coach, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Furla and Longchamp – and major luxury brands – such as Armani, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Gucci, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo and Prada.

This is some worthwhile research that is actually interesting… I think they should do more of this sort of stuff!  who’s with me?

Below are the Top 10 results, and it may surprise you a little!  It surprised me!

The Top 10 Most Searched Luxury Handbag Brands Globally

The biggest surprise has to be Coach.  I would have thought that both LV or Chanel would take out the honors of this research.  Coach has been around for a long time but I would have never considered them as a luxurious brand.  I would compare the brand to the likes of Oroton in Australia, but maybe bigger.

In saying that I totally love the Spring 2012 campaign that Gwynneth Patrow stars!  And since purchasing my first bangle in NYC in 2010, I really like their style aesthetic.

Below is a little something that I put together care of my friends @ Polyvore.  Here are my picks from their current collection.  You can check them all out and the rest of their current collection at Coach

My Favourite coach bags

Below are some other wonderful statistics from the research performed.

The picture below gives you an idea of where in the world people are doing their searches for Luxury Handbags.  It seems that per 1000 handbag searches that the UK has the largest number of searches!  Interesting.. And even more interesting,  Australia does not even get a mention.  Hmm, I wonder if that means Australians were not part of the group surveyed, or whether we do not even rank per 1000 hand bag searches – ooohhh..

Number of Handbag Searches per 1000 Internet Users

Here are some other results that may interest you:

“Japanese consumers are beginning to move beyond their famed affection for Louis Vuitton handbags, in a market where 85% of Japanese women already own a Louis Vuitton product (The Economist). The brand ranks 9th in Japan, and makes it the only country where Louis Vuitton does not rank in the top 5.

In the European market, Coach is much less popular than its global #1 ranking would suggest. The American brand ranks only 29th in Italy, 19th in France, 11th in Germany and 7th in the UK.

In France, Lonchamp is the most desired brand online, with almost twice the searches for handbags than Louis Vuitton, which comes in 2nd.”

(Information taken from Luxury Society )

So, how many of you agree with this??  Should we conduct our own survey?  I think so.  So, if you were searching for a luxury hand bag, which would be your favored brand?

Is there a choice of all of them.. :).  Think mine would be Chanel or Hermes!

Enjoy your weekend!
