Thank-you Mimco twice.. and can I have it forever??

So, it i has been a couple of weeks since I have posted something for all of you avid readers out there.  It has been a couple of busy couple of weeks for me – Easter, April’s Christening, public holidays, GF’s having beautiful babies.. :).

Me & husband were FINALLY lucky enough to get some “us” time on ANZAC Day.  The girls Nan, looked after them while we went down to Hastings Street, Noosa for some “us” time.

To our surprise, most of the shops were open.  It was after 1pm, and it is a holiday destination, so I should not have really been that surprised at all.  We wandered down the street, and stepped in Mimco, cause I had noticed on Tuesday night that my Jazz Teacher, was wearing a really cool Mimco wristlet.  You know me and my obsession with all things that go on my left wrist.    I wanted to check it out and see how much it would cost.

Now, I did find the wristlet , called “Memento”, but it was only avaliable in that store in black, which I so dearly steer clear from, brings back memories of my Mum saying “widows only wear black”.  I kept looking while the lovely sales assistant checked whether it was available at the Queens Street Store.

While waiting I stumbled upon this neon coloured piece… I just had to have it… have a look at Mimco’s Galaxy Limits bracelet

Me and my husband nearly died when we saw the price just $14.95, reduced from $59.95.  Yes, that is right, Mimco were selling this at $60, I could not believe this price, but I suppose people paid it, or maybe not and that is why it is on sale as such a reduced price.

I loved it, and so did my eldest daughter, who when I showed her my new bracelet,  she said, “Mummy, can I wear this forever”… which I laughed.  She wore it for a while, but was too big… Lucky me, for now..

But not only was I going to get this bracelet for a bargain price of $14.95, but if I joined the MimCollective, I would get a $30 voucher to spend on my next purchase.

Fast forward to Thursday, yes the very next day, and I found myself down at the Mimco Queens Street store, scoping out my Pink Memento wristlet… and I found not just 1 but 2, and I was going to use my $30 gift voucher to buy them.

Here are the wristlets that I purchased.

Mimco Memento Wrist - pink

Mimco Memeto Wrist - Milky Way

These wristlets are crafted from sturdy elastic with Mimco logo disc in silver plated pewter.   They little gals cost $19.95 each and come in a variety of colours.

Since I purchased 2, and used my $30 gift voucher, it only cost me $9.95 – I am impressed Mimco, thank you so much for the voucher.

I am already eying of one of their chunky necklaces for my next next purchase. lol..PS – While I was waiting in que for my purchase, the girl in front of me , had her wallet, bag and necklace, all Mimco, and she was buying a pair of ear-rings – WOW a Mimco addict.

What do you think of my purchases???  Are you a Mimco addict?? or addicted to any other designer??

til next time… Be Good!

If I were not paying of my CC, I would serously buy this, you have to stop me…

So, I am so tempted to purchase this bag, it is really not so funny. If I did not make this commitment to pay off my credit card debt on this blog, I would more than likely to have purchased this, or found some way to justify why I needed this totally beautiful & practical bag.  Check this baby out from my friends at J.Crew.  She is called the Biennial Satchel

J.Crew - Biennial Satchel

J.Crew - Biennial Satchel - Side View

J.Crew - Biennial Satchel

Maybe, I am so desperate for this bag, cause I am sorta over my current work bag that I am currently carrying. I have had it now for over a year, and I am started to thinkg what else I could get – well, in my dreams anyway.

I will let J.Crew have the honours of describing this very practical and beautiful bag. Take it away J.Crew… well, Lucia…(and you have to imagine the deep voice of the announcer)

“We’re head over heels for the perfect proportions of this luxe satchel. Crafted in supple pebbled leather, this sleek two-handle bag—a design team pick—has enough room for a mini-laptop, your lipstick and even your little cashmere cardigan. It’s just what we’ve always wanted: a can-do carryall with effortless elegance. Zip closure. Brass-finish hardware. Interior patch pocket. Cotton twill lining. Comes with dust bag. Import. 6″ handle drop. 11″H x 16″W x 7″D.”

I could not describe it better, only to say that it looks really practical, in that you can fit things in different sections, I would love to be more organised with my bags.

It comes in myriad of colours, red, black, camel and white.  I quite like the white one as well, but thought the camel is more wearable, both for work and life outside of work.  At $AUD 485.00 plus some postage, I would classify this bag, as an Oroton price range, which is not too bad, considering that it is almost a classic style bag, which would be pretty versatile.

what do you think?  Would you purchase this lovely bag?

Anyway,.. I must stay way from this bag… til next time.

Back off lady, a baby & my bangle

So, I must first of all share with you that as a family we have reduced the number of cars that we have down to one, which means that I regularly catch public transport to and from my day job.  And this is where the story starts.

I was like many people on Monday afternoon, waiting for our train to arrive to take us home.  Our train pulls into the station, and we all crumped together to find our seat.  I noticed there is a lady with her toddler sitting in the corner, and went and sat next to her.  If I were not a Mum, like most people I would have avoided the seat.

I was happy to talk to this lady.  I started asking her questions about her Baby boy.  He was the same age and my youngest, and he was walking.  Sorry, I can not recall his name.

During our conversation, I mentioned that I did have a daughter, who was the same age.  The lady then asked is she at home?  I said no she is at day care.  You could tell from what I was wearing that I was coming home from work.

How could you have her at daycare? (sigh!)  Don’t you miss her? and right there I paused, I had to think about it.  I replied of course I did, but at that moment I felt that I was being judged for working while my daughters both of them were at daycare.  I then felt I had to justify myself, by saying that they are ONLY at daycare 4 days a week, and my husband looks after them on Tuesdays.

We continued on our journey home, and we chatted about children, toddlers, how she found it difficult getting around the city with a pram.  I felt like saying I have no trouble at all, you just need to know where all the elevators are, as well as the baby change rooms.  But I told my EGO to settle down, and I just agreed with her.  Her son was interested in my bangle which I gave him to play with.  I knew it would occupy him for a little longer while we traveled.  My ego also thought of saying “your Daddy would not like you playing with that, would he” but I also refrained from saying something.  My ego can be nasty, hey.

Anyway, I offered to help her off the train, because I know how difficult it can be.  She was ok, as she had a friend with her.

It really got me thinking.  You know you read all these magazines, blogs, articles about how women are, I don’t really like to use this word “bitchie” but it is the only word I could think of.  Maybe it is a bit harsh, and I should use “judgemental” instead.  This was the first time in 4 years that I felt that I was being judged for my choice to work while my girls were in care?  Was I being a “good” Mum?  I really felt what it was like to be one of those women, you know like its a competition – Stay at home Mum VS Working Mum.

Working mum Vs Stay at Home Mum (c/-

I do not understand why women do it?  It baffles Me.  Why do we need to make ourselves feel better about the choices we make.  Whether it be that you work full-time, study part-time, work as a pole dancer,  climb the corporate ladder, decide to be a artist, earn lots of money, or just enough to get you by.  What ever you do, why is there that competition, especially between Mums.

I can only admire Mums who stay at home with their child or children.  It is the most challenging job in the world – so they say.  I keep up with young children, keeping them feed, entertained mostly, is a great challenge especially with the limited attention span.  I give bigger admiration for single parents who look after their children, I would not know what I would do without the support of my husband.

I can tell you from experience being a working Mum is a challenge as well.  Not only do you have to get ready for work, you have to get your children ready for care, make sure they are fed, stay clean, and bags ready every morning.  I am really lucky that my workplace has fantastic flexibility, and my direct manager is a Mum herself, so there is also a level of understanding.  Then to get home after a day’s work, dealing with some interesting people, now I say that nicely.  Pick up my girls, feed them bath them, get one to bed, colour in for another hour, read to my daughter, and then thats right, feed the dogs.  It is now 9:30, I would love to do some other things, but I am pooped, so hop into bed, only to start all over again tomorrow.

I love being a working Mum.  I love being with my girls.  In no circumstance, do I feel that I have missed any part of their life.  I have had so many joyful moments with them since thy were born.  Just like on the weekend, watching them have a ball at our local pool – priceless.  We do rely on the support of our local day care centre, as we would not be able to do what we do without their loving care for our daughters. They do a wonderful job of looking after our girls during the day.  I know that both me and my husband are grateful for their work.  thanks girls..

I think that as humans, Mum’s we are doing the best we can with what we got.  There is no “Perfect” way look after your child, as long as they feel that they are loved and care for, and they feel important to you. That is all that matters full-stop.  There is not need for women to be so judgmental of each other.

So, I am not sure why this nice lady said what she said, in her manner.  She could be wishing that she could be working, or she had a hard day with her Son in the city, or was dreading her night head or whatever, I am not sure, but I am sorry that she said what she said the way she did.

On a final note, “WOMEN, please just accept yourself for who you are, and more so accept others for who they are”.  I think women would be more appreciative of each other if they came from a place of acceptance..

Good Night.. & Be Good

Weird name, but some great buys – BOOHOO

So, last night I was watching “It’s a Brad, Brad World”, which is growing on me.  I actually think Brad is way better than what’s her name??  I can see her face, just can not recall her name,  I am thinking of the emails I receive from her,, that’s right Rachel Zoe.

Anyway, during one of the show breaks, I see an ad for a new on-line retailer, called “BooHoo”, that’s right Boohoo.  First time around I did not take much notice of the ad, but second time around, I sat and watched, then I tried to go to the site, but for some reason, I think I was like many other chickies, trying to access the site with no luck – 😦

So, this morning I checked it out.  I actually really love the pieces that they have.  Below are just some of the pieces that I chose.

Charmaine Scale Effect Blanket Edged Clutch - $36

Elizabeth Diamond Print Peplum Top - $30

Sophie Spotted Paperbag waist Cropped Trousers - $36

Now, just a little bit about the brand.

“Boohoo is one of the UK’s leading online fashion retailers, offering trend-led clothing at affordable prices. Boohoo provide a wide selection of celebrity and catwalk inspired pieces – with lots of new looks arriving daily….Since the launch in 2006, Boohoo has quickly become one of the most successful online fashion retailers for women’s clothing. As the company has grown, so has the customer base and Boohoo now ship worldwide to countries such as USA and Australia.”

I tried to see the cost of postage to Australia, but at the moment their pricing says $FOC.  If you can work out what this means, please let me know.  It takes 7-10 days to ship, which is not bad.  The only down side, is that you have to pay to have the items shipped back to the UK, if you want to return them.  A bit like the other UK brands, before ASOS moved to returns in Australia.  For my international readers, the pricing seems pretty reasonable.  You can check out their delivery information here

I think the price point is fantastic, and new pieces are coming in all the time. Boohoo seems to have built a great business, and looks as though many magazines use their products.

In a time, where people are a little more careful with what they spend, and still want to look fabulous, I can only say check them out.  You will be able to find something at a fantastic price point and have something that not everyone is wearing.  Enjoy guys.

Will you be buying something from BooHoo??  If you do, please let me know, what you thought of them..

Til next time… Be Good

If I were not paying off my CC, I would buy these in every colour..

So, I was just surfing the net tonight, you know seeing what is new out that I could possibly purchase.. which is not much.. I have been using Pinterest to post loads of images, which seems to help me get through my no spending year.  You should check it and me out!

So, here are some fabulous Tory Burch bangles,  Check these little babies out.

Tory Burch Logo Hinged Bracelets - Image from Neiman Marcus

When I saw these bangles,  I think my heart stopped.  Wow, they are totally beautiful.  I love all the colours but think my favourite colour is the orange one.

Tory Burch - Logo HInge Bracelet - Orange

You would all by now know that I have this fetish with bangles.  I was only telling my husband today, that I feel naked with out my stack on.  Not sure what it is, I have loved wearing bangles for a long time… Maybe it is a throw back from another life, where I was some warrior princess that wore some heavy bangles or something.. very imaginative I know.  I thought it sounded pretty cool… anyway.

I found these lovely Tory Burch bangles at ShopBop and Neiman Marcus.  Both cost $125.00.  Now I would personally go with ShopBop, I have shopped there before and if you spend over $100, Shipping is free, so in this case not a cent to pay for shipping.

I hope you can get 1 or even 2…  I am receiving a work bonus next month, so I am hoping to purchase this for myself as a gift for myself.

Til nextu time… Be Good!!
